This month, we're proud to recognize Robert Webb Jr., Para Pro and future Center Director at GR South, as our Staff of the Month!
Now in his fifth year with Success Virtual Learning Centers of Michigan, Robert has become a driving force behind student achievement and center success. While his primary focus is helping students stay on track to graduate, his role has evolved significantly over the years. Today, he takes on a variety of responsibilities that support the overall operation of the center, stepping in wherever help is needed.
One of the things Robert enjoys most about his job is the variety each day brings. "I never know what my day will be like until it starts," he says. "That's the best part—I never have the same days."
When asked about his proudest accomplishment, Robert points to what matters most: helping students reach the finish line. He believes he has helped graduate more students than anyone during his time with the organization, and seeing those students walk across the stage remains his greatest reward.
Robert credits his selection as Staff of the Month to his willingness to help wherever needed. Rather than limiting himself to one location or responsibility, he supports colleagues and centers across the organization whenever he can.
The work culture at GR South is best described, according to Robert, as "structured, fun, and fast-paced." He values being part of a team where everyone is dependable, adaptable, and willing to step up when needed.
Robert credits much of his growth and success to the guidance of strong leaders throughout his career. He is especially grateful for the support and leadership of his current Center Director, Kathy Williams, whose mentorship has helped him continue developing as a leader. He also appreciates the influence of other mentors who have played significant roles in shaping the person and professional he is today.
Outside of work, Robert enjoys staying active by working out, exploring trails with his dog, spending time with family, and coaching. Looking ahead, his professional goal is to become even more involved in leadership as he prepares to step into a Center Director role.
For new members of the Success Team, Robert offers simple but valuable advice: "Ask for help and use the folks that have been here—they won't lead you astray."
And if you're wondering what gets him energized for the day, it's "We Win" by Kirk Franklin and Lil Baby—a fitting anthem for someone so committed to helping students succeed.
Congratulations, Robert, and thank you for your dedication, leadership, and commitment to student success!
